Until the discovery of this last type by scientists Kanazawa Japan in 1966, They has found many Arowana. At least four fishes have already known as the genus with one species Arapaima (Arapaima gigas), Osteoglossum with two species of Osteoglossum bicirrhosum and Osteoglossum ferreirai, then Scleropages genus with four species, called Scleropages formosus, Scleropages guntheri, Scleropaghes leichardti and Scleropages jardini. Genus is the last Clupisudis with single species Cluoisudis nilot.
In Indonesia, there are many of Super Red Arowana (Scleropages formosus). Arowana this type can be found in many rivers and lakes in Sintang, Kapuas Hulu.
